Eating Disorders
Eating Disorders
It’s unlikely that one single factor can ever explain why someone develops
an eating disorder. It is more likely that a number of different factors are involved and
you will probably never discover the exact ‘cause’. Eating disorders are complicated
and no one fully understands precisely why they develop.
A combination of factors can leave your an individual feeling low in self-esteem and generally dissatisfied with life. They may believe that they need to be in complete control and totally successful in some aspect of their life. Because this is virtually impossible in any area that involves other people, they concentrate on self-control, and controlling food intake is the most obvious place to start.
